The object of motorcycle trials is to get a bike through an obstacle course without putting your feet down. The level of talent, and bike control required is extreme, and therefore motorcycle trials is considered extreme dirt bike riding, and a popular, well-respected international motorsport. Trials bikes are pure competition machines designed specifically for one purpose: to carry its rider through a challenging marked section of obstacles. The rider must ride his trials bike through a section without going out of bounds, putting his feet down for balance, falling down. The riders are all the while being observed, and falling or putting a foot down accrues penalties. At the end of a trials competition, the rider with the least penalty points wins.
